Forgotten
Daughter
By T.M. 17
Be mad at dad, but why me?
You're the one who should have been there the most.
How can a mother abandon her own flesh and blood?
I'll admit, I was a hard teenager to control.
I just wanted you to tell me it wasn't my fault.
I wanted you to tell me you still loved me.
Maybe for once you could have just cried with me.
If I could have taken away whatever was hurting you I would
have.
Then You might have been able to help me, your daughter, the
victim.
But I didn't know how.
So now I guess I'll just stay your forgotten daughter.
Dream of Truth
By P. 19
Once upon a dream, I was a lost and frightened little child
Thrown into a world that I was not ready for.
With no place to turn and no real person to relate to,
I cried many nights alone.
With daily struggles, I fought to stay afloat.
Constantly afraid of being drowned by all the things
that I didn't yet know or understand.
I prayed many nights for just an understanding ear and helping
hand.
Someone to see me for just me.
Then all at once while on my knees ready to quit,
through my tears a hand reached out to take a hold of mine.
This hand, this person came to walk behind me and protect me.
My friend, my shield.
Shield against all those who refused to look at me
My truth, my light on this darkened path
My reason to make it on purpose.
